CSC Sweatiest Angel November 2016

Congratulations to Christina Dunn on being named CrossFit Sixth City's Sweatiest Angel for November!  The Sweatiest Angel award is awarded each month to the CSC athlete who displays significant work ethic, a willingness to support others and a true sense of camaraderie inside the gym.

Christina busts her butt in the gym daily pushing through the task ahead of her and challenging all of her weaknesses.  She has continually increased all her lifts, added new tools to her skill set and always has more fun than anyone doing it.  She may also be the most consistent member in the gym.  We're almost guaranteed to see her at CSC at 5:30PM.  Congrats Christina!

How long have you been doing CrossFit?
Two years

What do you do when you are not at CSC (hobbies, occupation, etc)?
When I am not at CSC, I enjoy being outdoors (exploring new hiking areas, walking along the lakefront (except in the winter)), spending time with my family and friends, attending sporting events, shopping, traveling, reading, napping and working on house projects.

What is your favorite WOD/movement?
Any form of cleans, running, kettlebell movements, ball slams.

What is your LEAST favorite WOD/movement?
Thrusters

When did you come to find CrossFit and realize it was for you?
Prior to CrossFit, I was into distance running and kept getting injuries which would leave me sidelined for a month or more. I knew I needed to change up my routine, and looked into CrossFit. I was seeking a program that would give me the infamous “runners high” while training safe and not encountering any more injuries.

What were your expectations when you started CrossFit?
I was not really sure what to expect – I had no concept of how to lift weights or how to combine multiple movements; the only thing I knew I could do going into my first class was endurance. Although the first WOD I ever did was tailored to a newbie, I got the runners high I was seeking, and I knew I was hooked. CrossFit has been quite the journey and I love every minute of it.

What are your goals for CrossFit?
My goals for CrossFit would include: working on gymnastic movements, continue to get stronger/faster and to work on Olympic lifts.

What has your experience been with CrossFit?
CrossFit has, and continues to be, a positive experience. The athletes I am surrounded by on a daily basis are extremely friendly and supportive. Since CrossFit includes a multitude of different skills, CrossFit never gets boring as there is always something to work on and get better at.

One thing you've done at CSC you never thought you would do?
Only one? My most rewarding memory arises from the few team competitions I have done with fellow CSC athletes and placing. It is an amazing and rewarding feeling to be on the podium with friends!
